Final Defenders v.299 "Campaign Preview"

So apologies for the long wait, but I can say the initial build of the campaign is finally released! It's only 3 missions so far, but your progress is saved and performance tracked and you can reset it and do it all again anytime from the Options menu.

This lays the foundations for the initial game content, the framework by which the actual missions can be made. The nature of the game is such that making missions themselves is very fast once everything is working; I just need to actually determine the moving parts between them. For example, the mission debrief screen needs work. Right now, it pushes you back to the title screen. What I'm working on doing instead, is having an option to progress straight to the next mission. This sounds simple, but it's a matter of fitting it into the mission loading / campaign data structure. Yeah, I know, boring!

This feature also reminded me there ought to be a little mission brief screen at the start of the battle, so you don't miss the context for the mission. I think this would just help to re-iterate what's going on; the story is of course light, but I'd like to add a few narrative touches here and there so it's not completely in the dark.

Speaking of in the dark... Minova bombers are going to be pulling some neat tricks soon...

What about this version? Tell me more!

Oh yes. So, there have been a few tweaks and improvements on the road to proto-campaign. The Imperial Xerxes army is now available, but they're savage as hell so there's still a lot of balance needed there. Flyers can fire bursts of shots, and player shots are now coloured by their player colour... which makes keeping track of what's going on just that bit easier! Enemies attack after a certain minimum period of time, which helps with difficulty balancing; and they should be diving through the floor less often.

Lots more little fixes to come, but I think I will do a minor incremental on this relatively soon. I was just mindful that I was stuck in a loop of fixing and improving without releasing and needed to get this out there, even if it's a little rough round the edges. Any feedback, please let me know in the comments.
