Fateful Counsel

Ever need a second opinion, a mote of binary advice or a questionable arbiter for your actions? Do you like leaving decisions up to pure probability? You're in luck!

Introducing Fateful Counsel; perhaps the most overly-elaborate Magic 8 Ball ever made. Select councillors and ask them questions: they could be about you, about each other, or just about anything. You can also specify what kind of thing you're asking, but ultimately the question is voiced by you. The character will then return a dice-roll result, along with their personal comment on the verdict. And that's essentially it!

Actually, that's not all

But wait, there's more. Characters can have traits, which modify these simple dice results. The character "Bronkolm" may have the trait "Harsh"; meaning any questions you've specified as being about punishments, he's more likely to be punitive about.

You can also request a character to nominate another, promote characters to monarchs, or even banish them; temporarily removing them from involvement.

Your council, your way

The council is yours to decide: save, load and rename to keep as many alternatives as you want. Employ new councillors, execute old ones... pick their name, their picture, their traits and so on. You can even add your own images to the game folder, so your panel of advisors could be literally anyone you can find a picture for. If not, don't worry; there are a wide selection of beautiful fantasy portraits included to pick from.

Why do I need it?

What's it all for? Well that's up to you; it's a tool rather than a game. Perhaps you're running a tabletop RPG and want a sense of randomness to the NPC powers that be. Perhaps you struggle to get out of bed in the morning without resolving the crucial decision of whether you should have tea or coffee. Whatever your random advisory needs, Fateful Counsel is sure to offer a novel and pointlessly ornate way to make a decision.
